In September 2020, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer launched a state initiative to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 through development and implementation of the MI Healthy Climate Plan. Michigan is also a member of the U.S. Climate Alliance, a coalition comprised of governors throughout the United States that are working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions similar to actions being taken under the Paris Agreement.
