The E-Mobility Cluster started with the initial assessment of collecting stakeholders view to the services the cluster is offering. Due to the COVID-19 situation but also to create it as simple and flexible as possible for the participants, this initial assessment was done by an online survey. This survey gives us a clear confirmation of our way of working, but we will still try to improve and offer even more services for our stakeholders in the future and further improve our innovation.
The cluster bundles regional technological competence in the field of e-mobility across all sectors, from energy supply and charging infrastructure to e-vehicles. The aim is to position Regensburg as a location for intelligent and environmentally friendly mobility, especially in the future topic of electromobility, and to increase the market opportunities of the participating companies. Thereby, the focus of the cluster’s work is to support the development of innovation projects, the acquisition of funding, the establishment and expansion of an international partner network, the networking of business, science and politics, as well as marketing and public relations.
This focus is also clearly reflected by the companies that unambiguously give the highest priority to network activities. Support for innovations in general and in the area of marketing are also particularly important for members. The majority feedback regarding the orientation of the activities was also positive, although it was noted that the proportion of short-term activities should be further increased.
Basically, the respondents are of the opinion that the E-Mobility Cluster represents their interests in a sophisticated way. However, it can be seen that the degree to which the companies feel represented varies. On the one hand, there are companies that feel extremely well represented, on the other hand, some companies also feel that their own interests are only moderately displayed. In order to improve this different perception in the future, improvements must be made in this area so that the interests of all members are represented in a more balanced way.
Regarding the replies, we can see that our Members have a very positive view of the cost and benefit in our cluster. As the most companies feel strongly connected to us, it serves as proof that our effort to give them the best services is worthwhile and recognized. In addition, the solid number of cluster members is an indicator that the benefit is worth the cost.
Direct and extensive communication with the members through various channels is one of the main efforts of the cluster. This is also rewarded by the partners, and above all the fast and unerring way of exchanging information is emphasized. The press releases in particular are very popular, especially as they are published via different channels. In general, participants prefer e-mail and the monthly newsletter as a means of communication with the cluster.
The guiding principle of the cluster is to actively initiate new projects. Above all, the proactive approach is registered and rewarded by the members. The modern and contemporary way of acting and presenting the cluster is also highly appreciated by the participants. However, several companies do not perceive the cluster as particularly innovative, which provides a field for potential improvements in the future. Interestingly, it is precisely those companies which do not find the cluster particularly innovative that find that the work is very results-oriented and vice versa.
